How to Stop Overthinking and Actually Feel Good in Front of the Camera
You know that moment when someone points a camera at you and suddenly your entire body forgets how to function?
“Is my smile too big? Or is it weirdly small?”
“Where do I put my hands??”
“Why do I feel like a character from The Sims who just glitched?”
I see it all the time. You freeze. You stiffen. And then when you see the photo later, you don’t love it—not because you’re not photogenic, but because the energy you were feeling in that exact moment… shows up in the photo.
And here’s the truth most people miss:
Looking good in photos has very little to do with having a “good side” or perfect angles. It has everything to do with presence.
Watch anyone who seems effortlessly photogenic and you’ll notice:
They’re not frozen in a pose… they’re moving through it.
They’re not forcing a smile… they’re feeling something.
They’re not overthinking… they’re in it.
That natural, candid, relaxed energy—that’s what makes a photo feel like you.
When we shoot together, my focus isn’t on stiff poses or telling you to tilt your chin to some “perfect” degree. It’s on helping you feel at ease. Because once that happens? The images fall into place on their own.
So next time you’re in front of a camera, whether it’s with me or just someone snapping a phone pic, try this instead:
✅ Ask yourself: What energy am I stepping into?
✅ Consider: How do I want to feel when I look back at this?
Confidence, joy, softness, power—whatever it is, lean into that. Let your body respond naturally.
The result? Photos that feel real, connected, and genuinely you.
